2020-21 LCNY 3-4th Grade Team

Please see below for a complete program and schedule overview covering the 2020-21 LC New York season (our 7th year)!

This covers our 3-4thd grade (2029-30) team program. We are looking for a full roster of players (one team) who can fully commit to the entire LC New York program (Fall, Winter, and Summer).

Staff:  Our staff is made up of veteran LC New York coaches and guest coaches, all current or former college players, and the program is directed by Max Seibald (former Team USA, MLL, and Cornell star) and Rob Pannell (current team USA, PLL, former Cornell star).  Both directors were winners of the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, recognized as the best college player in the nation.  Mat Levine co-founder of the program continues to assist as a Director with Seibald and Pannell.

2020-21 Program Description Overview: For better continuity, team building, and an improved development arc, we will ask our families to commit to the Fall, Winter, and Summer seasons (payments in 3 installments) and to take the COMMITMENT to be a consistent and reliable teammate, regardless of ability.  Each season will have 8-9 training sessions/tournaments.  Financial assistance is available upon request (mat.levine@citylax.org).

  • In the Fall (October-Mid November), we will be conducting our team weekend training sessions on Sundays, working in small groups with high rep drills and team concepts, building up to scrimmage play but staying laser focused on fundamentals. The focus of the Fall program will be to bring the boy back to lacrosse, given the long layoff due to Covid-19 Pandemic.  There will be a strong emphasis to rebuild fundamentals through high rep drills and small space play.  We want to regain good technique in ball handling/shooting, defensive footwork, and lacrosse IQ. We will conclude the Fall by competing in the Trilogy Veteran's Day Classic in New Jersey on November 15.
  • Covid-19 Adjustments for Fall 2020—Read Carefully:    Using US Lacrosse Return to Play recommendations and recommendations from a LCNY-Doc's NYC-CityLax task force of coaches and parents, we will adjust our Fall curriculum to conform to guidelines that will include: small group instructional "pods of 10 players" (pods and one coach will be fixed for sessions 1 and 2), social distancing (within reason) between players and players-coaches, no contact drills (sessions 1 and 2), phased-in light contact drills (sessions 3 and 4), and conclude with drills and scrimmaging (sessions 5 and 6), all in compliance with existing NYS guidelines. There will be strict protocols involving health screening reporting to the Directors prior to each practice/event; drop-off logistics; signing in for each session; mask requirements/wearing (regular mask, gaiter, or lacrosse helmet protective shield) for all players, coaches, and parents; hydration rules; and equipment (no) sharing rules. No equipment can be borrowed on site.  These protocols must be followed and will be emailed after registrations are completed. A COVID-19 WAIVER must be signed, emailed (Mat.Levine@citylax.org), or brought to the first day of practice.  All Registered players will be emailed a Waiver before the start of practices or you can download it from our LC New York Website.  If you have Covid-19/other questions, call Mat Levine at 917-957-4409 or Mat.Levine@citylax.org directlyOur goal is to provide a productive LC New York NYC Fall 2020 lacrosse experience with outdoor sessions that are safe, given the Pandemic environment.
  • Our Winter 2020-21 indoor training program (December-February) will focus on refining Field Lacrosse concepts taught in Fall and developing some critical Canadian Style box lacrosse skills.  The sessions will be conducted indoors at the Dalton School gym (subject to receiving permit) or outdoors (weather permitting) and concludes with a Sunday tournament at an indoor facility, in the Metro Area.
  • During Spring, we expect our players to play for Doc's NYC and/or their School teams.
  • Summer season (Late May throug the 3rd weekend in June) consists of weeknight practices and 3 tournaments that will be one-day events and will conclude the third weekend in June. New LC New York Gear is being designed.

All in all, we believe the LC New York program/schedule offers the best value for a multi-season (ex Spring) dedicated New York City lacrosse player in grades 3-11.  You do not have to travel to LI or Westchester to get great coaching plus team/individual player development.

2020-21 Program Schedule Overview: (for your planning purposes; some details to follow; subject to permit and tournament information received later).

  • Fall 2020 Training, Practices, and Tournaments (required). 6-7 Sunday training/team practices (12 Noon or 12:30 starts; subject to minor changes; details to follow) in October and November. Practices start October 4 at Randall's Island fields (to be announced with specific times).  The Fall concludes with a One-day Tournament November 15 in New Jersey (approx.. 8:30-3PM).
  • Indoor Winter Lacrosse Training and Tournament 2020-21 (required). 6-7 training sessions.  Sunday nights for 3-8 th graders and Friday nights for 9-11 th graders, indoors at the Dalton Gym (pending permit approval).  If indoor facilities not available at school gyms, we will run Winter sessions earlier in the day on Sundays outdoors (weather permitting).  Winter concludes with an Early February one day weekend tournament at an indoor location in the Metro Area (details to follow in January).
  • Late May-June Summer 2021 Team Practices and Tournaments.  2 weeknight team practices per week at Randall's Island, 6PM start; 3 Weekend one-day Tournaments.  Players required to play in all 8 of our practices and all 3 of our tournaments.
  • Commitment/Attendance Expectations. READ CAREFULLY. Missing a practice or two each season is acceptable; missing tournaments is not fair to teammates, coaches, and the program, and is not acceptable. Simply put, we are asking our families to make lacrosse a one day a week commitment in Fall and Winter and 3-day a week commitment in Late May through the third week of June. Please think this through and make sure you can start and finish the program.

Cost: $3000 - can be paid all at once, or through a 3-part payment plan, set up through this website. Includes uniform, custom gloves or alternative, and team apparel.
